The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is hosting the Youth Summit 2016, an opportunity to bring together more than 150 First Nations youth to dialogue and focus on the priorities and key issues around mental health, suicide prevention, substance abuse and social determinants of health. It will be held on July 10, 2016 in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

In addition, the 37th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) will be held on the territory covered by the Treaty of the Six Nations of the Grand River, Niagara Falls (Ontario) at the Scotia Bank Convention Centre from July 12 to 14, 2016

The funding from the golf tournament will allow for the First Nations Youth Network of Quebec-Labrador to participate in these events as spokespersons. Thank you for your generosity and your support!

Team Eastern Door and the North (EDN)

Every three years, the largest gathering devoted to Aboriginal sport and culture takes place in North America, that is to say, the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG). This sporting and cultural event welcomes more than 5,000 Aboriginal youth ages 12 to 19 years across 14 traditional and modern sporting disciplines!

Team EDN consists of nearly 300 athletes who come from the various First Nations communities and Inuit villages in Quebec. The team will be participating in the next edition of the NAIG which will be held in Toronto, from July 16 to 23, 2017.

Team EDN's athletes have been training for months, even years, in order to participate in this competition. Their place on the team is the result of their hard work, dedication and determination. Team EDN shined at the 2014 NAIG by moving up into fourth place in the standings with 58 medals, including 20 gold medals! The FNQLHSSC is proud to coordinate team EDN and would like to thank you for your kind generosity and support for First Nations athletes.
